During more than three decades of work, Maquita has focused on supporting the families of small producers, especially in:

  • Improving sustainable productivity to increase families’ incomes.
  • Incorporating environmentally friendly technology and innovation to improve the efficiency of agricultural work.
  • Contributing to food security, through crop diversification.

Leadership and productive management.

For 2015 we had direct coverage of 22,968.56ha in 11 provinces of Ecuador.

Training and technical assistance in sustainable agricultural production systems.

2,910 producers nationwide benefited from the development of agricultural techniques that emphasized strengthening sustainable agricultural development and protecting the ecosystem by improving productivity.

Technology transfer and biofertilizers.

From the Technology Transfer Center, located in the Buena Fe district, Los Ríos province, Maquita directs the creation and validation of technology packages to be implemented on farms and plots of small producers. In 2015, technology transfer was introduced in 7 provinces of Ecuador, all with good results in production processes.

Food Security and Sovereignty

Currently, there are pilot plans for gardens in 4,145 ha dotted with necessary products such as: rice, bananas, fruits, vegetables, among other things, that contribute to the healthy diet of families. Surpluses are sold at local fairs.

Irrigation Water

The installation of 203 irrigation systems to improve the soil conditions of 701.5 hectares, as well as the training of leaders for the efficient administration of the systems, have been key factors in establishing a sustainable model of water management.
